Fight! Fight! Fight! with Folkfest of the North at the Crofoot
Folkfest of the North sailed into the Crofoot for a captivating night with 4 bands each playing their own brand of folk metal. Nini, whose lead is from Taiwan, played a very interesting blend of metal backed by an American metal band. Nini performed last year on America's Got Talent and got some praise from Simon Cowell. Trollfest came on next with a very fun set of chaotic metal and hi-jinks! Wearing pink flamingos on their head and tutus,Trollfest, a Norwegian band, filled out their sound with saxophone and extra percussion. Ensiferum, which means "sword bearing" are a Finnish folk metal band puts the emphasis on metal with a very heavy sound. Their songs were anthems that the crowd shouted and waved their arms along with. The closing band was Korpiklaani which means "Backwoods Clan" are also Finnish. Their sound is a bit more folk than metal, featuring violin and accordion. Korpiklaani's music had an exotic quality that took the crowd out on a mystical journey.
