Totally Tubular Festival Revives the Best of the 80’s
Friday night brought 8 bands that had some of the biggest and best hits of the 80’s to Meadow Brook Amphitheatre and proved they still know how to deliver the goods. Bands included The Plimsouls, Tommy Tutone, Bow Wow Wow, Men Without Hats, Wang Chung, Modern English, Thompson Twins and Thomas Dolby. They played in front of a packed crowd that several of the bands claimed was their best audience yet.
Some of the highlights included:
Bow Wow Wow’s Annabella Lwin gave a very energetic performance dancing around the stage and singing some of their best songs.
Men Without Hats knew the crowd liked “Safety Dance” so they played it twice.
Wang Chung did their own version of the Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go.”
Thompson Twins, who last played Meadow Brook 40 years ago, gave an incredible performance with Tom Bailey thrilling fans.
Thomas Dolby closed the night opening with a cover of New Order’s Blue Monday and included a special tribute to David Bowie.
