Deap Vally Scorch the Night Away!

Thursday night at the Magic Bag, Deap Vally plaved a scorching set for the farewell tour. Carbon Decoy opened the show with a heavy set of stoner metal that was highlighted by the drummer/singer's intensity and some ace guitar work. They just released their first record and had a steady line to buy it after their set. This was my first time seeing Deap Valley and since this is their farewell tour, it may be my last but I was certainly glad I got the experience of this explosive duo. The setting for their show was a heavy dose of fog and deep red and blue strobes that set amplified their heavy sound. The first half of their set was dedicated to playing their initial release, "Sistronix" in its entirety. Their set proved why this album is considered a classic. The remaining of their set including a mix of their best songs, including a few from their latest release "Marriage." Towards the end of the set, they played "Perfuction" with their energy pumping up the crowd to a frenzy. They ended the set with a the rousing "Royal Jelly."
