Last Dinner Party Bring Their Sunday Best to Detroit

You might think a new band would have problems selling out a show on Easter Sunday but for Last Dinner Party that was hardly the case as they packed the Majestic Theatre along with Miss Grit as their opener. Riding high on the buzz of "Prelude to Ecstasy" their debut album, Last Dinner Party brought a great set of songs that left the crowd eager to see them again. Miss Grit, who is a bit of a local musician, as she grew up in Grand Rapids but now lives in NY opened the show with a solo set. Her songs have a unique feel to them that reminds me a bit of St. Vincent. Her visuals were also interesting as she had projections that covered the stage. Last Dinner Party came on strong with all the members spread along the front of the stage and singer, Abagail Morris, dancing around them. They brought an energy to their show that goes beyond what they bring to their album. They included a cover of Chris Issak's "Wicked Game" and a new song "Second Best". While the set was short at just an hour it was most certainly sweet.
