Missio Provides Support for Badflower’s No Place Like Home Tour wsg Slothrust
The Austin-based genre-bending duo Missio hit the road with Badflower as support on the headliner’s “No Place Like Home” Tour. Matthew Brue and David Butler wowed the crowd with songs off their massive 5 EP rock/hip-hop/indie album “I am Cinco.” The band’s half hour set featured “Everybody Gets High,” “Sing to Me,” and “Fuck it.”
Hidden in the blue and red lights, Slothrust took the stage as DMX played over the loud speaker. The Boston Alt-Indie band, lead by Leah Wellbaum with Will Gorin on drums and Annie Hoffman on Bass, Powered through their amazing set. The trio had the crowd in the palm of their hands with their packed setlist. The energy of the crowd echoed the band’s spirit with songs like “Pony,” “Planetarium,” and “For The record.”
Prior to Badflower taking the stage, WRIF DJ Jade Springart took a few moments to thank the crowd for coming out. WRIF have been long time supporters of Badflower and while the band is not from Detroit, Their song named after the city does feature the live crowd from a previous performance. And with that, the main event hit the stage. Lead by Josh Katz, Badflower harnessed all the energy brought up from the openers and unleashed it through their almost 20 song evening. Kicking off the show with “Teacher has a Gun” and leading into “Johnny,” “Move Me,” “Heroin,” and Closing the show with the aforementioned “Detroit” in their encore. The Crowd were treated with a night of amazing rock.
