Porter Robinson made Detroit SMILE on his World Tour with Ericdoa

Porter Robinson’s SMILE! world tour stopped in Detroit Sunday night, bringing with it Porter’s mix of electro/indie/hyper-pop and a performance worthy of the biggest stage. Utilizing multiple props, bursts of heart shaped confetti, crowd engagement on a personal level and a uniquely intriguing backdrop the show was entertaining from start to finish. Porter, backed by his band, perform in front of a video wall that was clearly painstakingly crafted to reflect the mood of each individual track. It is constantly engaging and feels fresh not only from track to track, but during each song as well. This is especially true when Porter ascends to the billboard like scaffolding taking a seat with an acoustic guitar, legs hanging off of the edge. It brings a cinematic flare to the show. Porter Robinson’s career spanning performance is a show that even first time listeners could find engaging, and one that long time fans are sure to love.
